Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) spectrum disease is a rare autoimmune disease. There are between 6,000 – 8,000 rare diseases that affect 6 – 8 percent of the population, most of which have no cure. The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation works to help find a cure for NMO by establishing an unprecedented scientific research model that directs international collaboration between scientists.
