Cedars-Sinai: 2nd Annual Neuromyelitis Optica Conference for Professionals and Patients

EventsCedars-Sinai: 2nd Annual Neuromyelitis Optica Conference for Professionals and Patients

Latest Updates on Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders (NMOSD) Second Annual Conference for Healthcare Professionals and Patients

Why You Should Attend

The second annual Neuromyelitis Optica Conference for Professionals and Patients will focus on neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, generally referred to as NMOSD, uncommon disease syndromes of the central nervous system that affect the optic nerves and spinal cord. Individuals with NMOSD develop optic neuritis, which causes pain in the eye and vision loss, and transverse myelitis, which causes weakness, numbness and sometimes paralysis of the arms and legs, along with sensory disturbances.

Led by expert faculty, you will learn about these challenging disorders and the importance of a careful diagnosis and early intervention using the latest medical approaches. A unique feature of this program is a concurrent patient education program conducted in collaboration with the Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation.

Patients, Caregivers, Family, Friends, and Medical Professionals Invited

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of Internal medicine physicians, neurologists, ophthalmologists, rheumatologists, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, pediatric neurologists and interested allied healthcare professionals. In addition, patients with NMOSD are invited to participate in the educational conference, enroll in the Collaborative International Research in Clinical and Longitudinal Experience in NMOSD Studies (CIRCLES) and have specimen collection done.
