2011 NMO Patient Day
Based on the success of the 2009 and 2010 NMO Patient Days, the foundation hosted its third annual NMO Patient Day on day three of the 2011 NMO Roundtable Conference. Entitled, Living with NMO3, NMO Patient Day invited members of the public who have been affected by NMO to view presentations and engage in dialogues with leading NMO scientists and clinicians from all over the world, and also with other NMO patients. Attendees consisted of NMO patients, caregivers, family, friends, NMO scientists and clinicians, foundation Medical Advisors and staff members. Priority for public attendance was given to those who have never before attended in an effort to reach out to new NMO patient community members. The attendance reached approximately 250 attendees (up 60 percent from 2010).
NMO Patient Day featured welcome messages from Founder Victoria Jackson and her daughter Ali Guthy. Also featured were presentations about the GJCF NMO Biorepository, two question-and-answer panel discussions and seven breakout sessions.
