2012 NMO Roundtable Conference

The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation’s (GJCF) fifth annual Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) Roundtable Conference announced a new phase for the foundation. Focusing on Phase III, which aims to initiate therapeutic strategies for clinical aspects of NMO, the conference included “NMO Partners Day.” Also announced was the joint effort between the foundation and Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) to increase blood draw site for NMO across the United States. The conference was held October 22 – 23, 2012, at The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

Goals and Objectives

The goals Roundtable Conference and Partners Day were to:

Reconvene the “best of the best” in neurodegenerative disease research for the purpose of continued information sharing and facilitating scientific collaborations for NMO research.

Garner pharmaceutical industry interest and PI connectivity in potential NMO drug discovery, and/or drug repurposing and/or clinical trials.

To this end, selection of Principal Investigators’ (PI) presentations was based on project results that directly and significantly advanced NMO critical path research. The objectives were to engage scientists and clinicians in further collaboration for strategic partnering, while in parallel, initiating pharmaceutical connectivity as a collective effort working toward an ultimate clinical cure for NMO.
